Side bonus. If you run pipes through the heap you can heat up water for your hot-tub or radiators. Compost gets up to 77c (170f).
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

That would involve more antibiotics than human shit.Speaker to Animals wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:19 am If you want to scale it up, you could potentially look for organic dairy and beef operations and find out if you can haul off the cow shit. Then just create a farm consisting of many bins that you load with worms on a rotating schedule.

Not if you go to an organic dairy.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 4:57 pmThat would involve more antibiotics than human shit.Speaker to Animals wrote: Wed Feb 27, 2019 11:19 am If you want to scale it up, you could potentially look for organic dairy and beef operations and find out if you can haul off the cow shit. The way organic works, as long as you stay in the system of organic things you are usually okay. Real organic, though. Not the fake commercial shit that people get conned over.
I like the brewery waste idea better. There are lots of microbrewaries around here.

It's really fucked up what we did to agriculture.

DDT is mankind's greatest invention.

Historically, the best way to get leveraged out of power is food shortages or highly elevated food costs. Food abundance means a docile population.Speaker to Animals wrote: Thu Feb 28, 2019 6:19 am It's really fucked up what we did to agriculture.

There is also this myth that industrial agriculture produces the highest yields. I do not think that is true at all. Industrial agriculture is financially more efficient but wastes a great deal of land and eventually damages the soil with chemicals and toxins. Nor is it nutritionally the better choice.C-Mag wrote: Thu Feb 28, 2019 8:26 amHistorically, the best way to get leveraged out of power is food shortages or highly elevated food costs. You could break up a huge industrial farm into dozens of smaller organic farms and your yields would be much higher. Small growers produce huge yields now on just a few acres using things like high tunnels and other technology.
There are two branches of technology. One is hyper-capitalist and very dangerous to human health and even civilization. The other can produce much higher yields, and produce safe food, but costs are going to be a little higher.
The problem with capitalist style farming is that it is only a matter of time before we see some kind of foid shortage due to shit like Monsanto's seeds. We likely already suffer enormously increas3d cancer rates, but that is just another unaccountable negative externality.
We have not really sufficiently utilized the good agricultural technology to a significant scale, but it is happening slowly. Where I live small farmers are taking over.
