Very Good stuff GoG.

The problem here with this podcast is these are the 2 biggest history podcasters in the world. These two are historians that get paid bank to do history work.* These guys should be doing that detailed study, but have they? They've read Mein Kampf, they've read Das Kapital, but have they studied detailed works on Communism or how Germany was a Socialist state even before Hitler got in power, and Hitler just put his spin on Democrat Socialism. Even Bismarck referred to Germany being State Socialism. It's really ignored that both Communism and Fascism have exactly the same roots. Both originated in social upheaval of 19th C. Germany. Ferdinand LaSalle, the founder of German Democratic Socialism was in the Communist League with Marx and Engles.

*I consider Carlin a historian. He has a degree, and makes his living studying and teaching history. 'Fan of History' is a cute ploy to get oneself off the hook.

I'll give both Dan's the benefit of believing they read multiple sources on the history of communism and I know HH is well versed on the entire first half of 20th century history , especially Europe. I see what you are say though, I just think its more a psychological hiccup to be nice about it. We all have things we are blind to or simply cannot accept and most smart people think and believe they are capable of being unbiased or true "historians". I have two degrees in history and there are people on here that know more than me about just about most historical topics except maybe Ancient Greece (my specialty) and even with that there are sub-fields or subtopics with Greece Im sure some on here know more than me. That's doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't talk about or write about other things If I want. It just means to be honest about it I have to be humble and actually genuinely try to be upfront about where I'm coming from.

Hitler was a consequence of the Great War and the failed so called treaty of Versailles. He was a symptom of the disorder and fallout of trench warfare and a people grasping for a way into the future that wasn't shackled down by the previous generations failure to conquer the continent. Fascism was an attempt to deal withe fallout of Industrialization-Capitalism just like Communism was in theory...

You're nicer than I am.

Jumping off on a more positive note, I'd like to run with some stuff Bonelli was talking about.

I'm in the camp that L/R is pretty useless, but I use it for convience and social custom. I'm all about Individual Liberty vs Tyranny as the real political dividing lines. If we talked in those terms we'd be much better off.

I may graphically represent how I see shit, where we are on the 'Magnus Liberty Scale'.

I kinda prefer HOFs more personality oriented ones... I thought the ones on TR and Caravaggio were interesting, or HH BfA/WotK being a more "on the ground" war stories type thing. The more they try and stray into outright political discussion the less I want to hear their thoughts.

DC: DDE, he had a good record on tamping down the MIC before.

DB: Totally TR for me. He loved trees and totally DGAF.

DC: Lol I forgot, muh clean water.

DB: Muh roads.

DC: Cool, muh roads, bruh. Why do the bolshies get such a bad rap, anyway? The nazis were totally sitting on the side of King whatshisname at the big Convention I think it was called in Paris. Way way over to the right.

<toking noises>
Was Hitler the leader of the Germans during the 2nd World War or the 1st one? What was that one dude who came up with that invasion plan to take over that European country? Dan talked about it or whatever

Why couldn't they have just given him the car? They could have saved the lives of millions of innocent people. A Magical car is a cassus belli and it acted as Versailles in this conflict. I would love to hear Dan discuss how crazy it must have felt to see such an automobile, especially when you are this European peasant who has no idea about internal combustion engines. It must have felt like meeting Martians or something.

The fault lies 100% on the Baron's thot wife. She sabotaged the deal when she realized she couldn't succeed in killing him for his inheritance money.
