I don't understand why proof is still used to measure alcohol strength.
Especially the way it is incorrectly calculated in America (just doubling the percent alcohol).
Originally a drink was either above or below proof measured by adding alcohol to gunpowder and seeing whether it would still burn. Above proof was charged duty at a higher rate.
What really irritates me though is when people say ''40 percent proof'' which is pure nonsense.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

And as the lady of the house is away, I can play my theme song, and crank it, to eleven.

Guess who's back, back again?
Capps is back, tell a friend.
Tecumseh be free, James Madison might be lightening up, here's hoping he's not bullshitting me, like he's Stringer Bell to my Omar.

Ditto. Brown hair, brown eyes and legs. Damned if Donovan didn't pick a hottie but that expiration date has long since passed. Curdled milk is so not sexy.

My wife is the spitting image of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I had a crush on Dorothy since I was a boy, thus when I saw my wife, it was love at first sight. Then she turned out to be about the finest woman a man could ever ask for, which you know to be true, since she puts up with me.
