In fact, Harper made things worse, because instead of reforming the Firearms Act as he promised, he added draconian minimum sentences to minor firearms regulatory infraction.

Thankfully that got overthrown, by the Liberal judges.

So that's actually Liberals 2, Harper 0

Not much you can do right now, the Spanish are clearly pouncing, because HM Government is effectively paralyzed at the moment.
Just ignoring them like HM's government is currently doing seems the best policy to me.
I did like the defence minister's suggestion that we should paintball their frigates to embarrass them. They are clearly in no position to take Gibraltar by force.
Nulli expugnabilis hosti, as the Gibraltar regiment's motto says.
Remember Falklands? When Argentina thought you were weak and the queen didn't ignore?

That was the last time the Crown had it's balls back.

Now that the RN has the F-35 Panther, Argentina cannot imperil the Falklands.

None the less, you can't use American jets to bomb NATO members.

Wasn't the Queens spies, they never saw Argentina coming, nobody was expecting an American proxy to go kinetic against the United Kingdom - United States Security Agreement.

It was a surprise attack successfully executed. In the wake, the initial advice to the Baroness Thatcher was to sue for peace, but a Royal Navy Admiral, Henry Leach, took it upon himself to drive down to Whitehall and stop the Prime Minister in the hallway, wherein he told her this shall not stand and he had a plan to make that happen.

Then she took his advice and prosecuted his war plan.

Yeah my understanding is that the whole operation was totally shoe stringed together with high levels of special forces lost during the initial engagement. I think it was a really bold operation altogether to sail all the way across the world with half your forces in mothballs and the other half derelict or out in the north sea somewhere on NATO agreement.

I liked the episode of Mo20c that talked about it.

In the intervening years, the UK has acquired three American strategic platforms which render any Argentine action against the Falklands a non stater.

TLAM, Globemaster III, and the F-35 Panther.

You keep saying you lost the battle but you actually won. We don't have any moderators anymore that I'm aware of. Other than Dr. Hash at least.
Yup - he and Capps won bigly. No Olympics discussion was allowed, per their wishes. (Queue Smitty coming along to say, "who, me? I dindonuthin." I'll go ahead and pre-eye roll on that.)

I'm technically still a mod, but since I changed the password with my eyes closed, I have no way of logging in with that account. Everyone is safe from me.

UK forces have gotten smaller, but they are packing exponentially more firepower than they had in 1982

They cut overhead, and bought more weapons, better weapons, revolutionary weapons, massive force multipliers.
