So yeah... my day has taken an interesting turn.
I went up the elevator like I do every day to go to work, and get ready to open the door and notice a note, saying that my company has closed its doors indefinitely. The CFO said we would be notified well ahead of time if there was trouble, because well... the company was not doing well due to the fact that the CEO decided to change direction multiple times and caused chaos...
I did my best for the company, my tenure there I saved the company almost $250k, while they seemed to spend as fast as they got the money...
I should have seen it coming, but for whatever reason, the company has closed shop, and none of the executives are not returning phone calls or emails. I think it may have to do with our connections to the Saudi prince, but this is all speculation.
Amusingly, got a job offer from a company I was going to turn down today when I got into work, I thought nothing of it, yes it would be a pay increase of 20% but the potential of income return from the company I was working for long term had its benefits, and potential profits, so I was willing to sacrifice short term gain for long term rewards...
Well, I am now on a train to interview directly with the CEO of this company for a job that is nearly identical with what I have done at my old job, but at a much higher level, I will be responsible for a large global infrastructure and interaction directly with countries such as China, Vietnam, as well as India, and parts of the EU.
Today has been an interesting day...

Good luck. Guess you better learn some Chinese and Vietnamese.
Sucks to be out of a job with no warning. This is why I have no sympathy at all for government workers whining. They have no idea what operating in the real world is like. Their worst nightmare is a month of free “shutdown” vacation with guaranteed backpay. Meanwhile you’re trying to raise a family and may discover any day that your income is finished.

It’s also the risks of working startups.DBTrek wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:14 amGood luck. Guess you better learn some Chinese and Vietnamese.

Thankfully I know security, they let me in to get my stuff.
But yeah, govt employees have it easy compared to us rubes.
I have a good feeling about this job interview, one thing I’ve lesrned through life is that when life keeps knocking you down, get back up and give it the bird, and keep on swinging back.

Sounds like you’ll land on your feet - better situation than 4 years ago?

Risky, but if they succeed, they are worth it.

Usually a losing proposition.
You are often better off going Fortune 500 and max out your preferred stock purchase plan.

Best wishes. I can hook you up with a moving company if you need one.
