Beef franks meal wasn't bad either.
I could tolerate the cornbeef hash too.

Air Force called it the vomit omelet.C-Mag wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:22 pmIt was called Egg Jello in my parts. Man that stuff was awful, even worse out of T-Rats. Tasted it one time, that was it, never touched it again. My meals were number 6 and number 8. The ham slice and the spaghetti. Lots of bad meals in the early MREs, they had meals that could literally kill you if you ate them the wrong way.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:16 pmOr was it called omelet and ham?
Which was the one that could kill you if you ate it?

When I'd go on canoeing campouts, I used to bring this canned beef that was from Uruguay. It was made by Hormel I think. It had this gravy on it, and we would boil rice and then dump the can onto it. It was pretty tasty for canned meat. Vienna sausages are also not bad if you are away from civilization. MREs are pretty expensive (but taste awesome when you are on the trail), so we rarely bought them, but there is a cottage industry for dried backpacking food that makes quality products. Cobbler, biscuts, various stews, all that good shit is a must if you are hiking and you want something that weighs little in your pack but is filling.

Yep, those were 2nd tier choices for me, tried to snag the 6 and 8 first.
The dehydrated beef and pork patties were awful, I know personally we had a young gentleman from Birmingham who like to eat them dry. He ate at least 2, I heard stories of more, but it F'd him up. He went to the hospital, apparently he could have died pretty easy from it, digestive trac blockage I heard.

Is the Jalapeno and Cheese MRE really popular in the military? I've seen multiple references to it on the show generation kill and online. It seems it is a top choice for servicemen. There is a youtube channel where this guy buys and eats MREs, including ones from decades ago. He did one where he ate a pepperoni pizza MRE that didn't look half bad. He looked like he enjoyed it.C-Mag wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:40 pmYep, those were 2nd tier choices for me, tried to snag the 6 and 8 first.

There was nothing like that when I was in. But they changed it up every few years.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
