what of those that understand the risks and consequences of
freedomizing society and the economy, but after considering the alternatives are still willing to risk it?
Very few I think admit the costs. In fact, I can think of no examples of people taking that position that I ever met.
Most of them are like "how is gay marriage possibly going to affect you???" Well, duh. It causes all kinds of social, economic, and legal problems. Homosexuality in particular has inflicted a terrible punishment on American society in the form of AIDS, high rates of suicide, broken families, etc.
In another thread, Fife and DB were pretending like legitimizing price gouging after a disaster couldn't possibly cause harm. When it was demonstrated exactly how that can happen, and how probable it is, they chose to be snarky and not address the point at all.
Left liberals like Jedi see the problem with price gouging. Right liberals might see the problem with gay marriage (at least now after businesses are getting shut down and people's lives ruined). Neither of them see the mote in their own eyes. They are two sides of the same coin.
It's all liberalism, stemming from the Enlightenment. Liberalize everything they said. It will be great they said. Well, western civilization is about dead now. Thanks.
