It's not classic liberalism, it's liberalism, period.

Those who are out there de-platforming folks, railing against freedom of speech aren't liberals.

Core tenets of liberalism:

Challenge yourself and others for intellectual soundness. Just because it is tradition doesn't make it valuable. There are no sacred things that are beyond analyzing for intellectual soundness.

Freedom of Speech. The best disinfectant is sunlight. How can you challenge yourself and others without the free exchange of ideas?

Live and let live. It's about consent. As long as you're not hurting other people, I don't care what you do in the privacy of your own home.

That's core liberalism. If you don't believe in that you can't be liberal. If you do believe in all of these, then perhaps you're more liberal than you think. (this is not an exhaustive list, I just can't think of any others atm.)

As I’ve said, and will continue to say, I have always been a social liberal, if your definition is what “Liberal” stands for, then so be it. I’m a traditional Liberal, but I am no way in hell these socialist bullshit artists.

I’ve stated before I’m a liberal when it comes to all those tenants above, I’ve never hid it.

I’ve stated it in the DCF, and here. I’ve said that what people call Liberals today, aren’t, they are nothing but socialists wrapped in a pretty named wrapper and hijacked the name for themselves.

This is why I say I’m a centrist, because neither party suit me, but in reality I am an old school Republican, someone who believed in freedoms as long as it didn’t infringe on other people’s.

As for intellectual soundness, I’ve never thought anything different.

If that makes be a traditional liberal, I’d rather believe in logic and freedoms than feelings, safe spaces and bullshit logic/feelings that people call science.

Nope, not me. I believe the state should be there to help you up if you fall, no matter how times you do it will be there, but unless you are physically unable to do work of some sort (full time) then the state should not be in your way.

What part of not being for things that effect/affect other people don’t you understand?

Traditional Liberal is different than what Liberal stands for today. When a party steals your identity, you’d be pissed too.

I hold beliefs of both parties, but I’ve almost never voted Democrat in the last almost 30 years because Democrats that call themselves liberal, aren’t.
