I'd argue all four nations were fucked to some degree, with Quakers/Midlanders the least fucked, and Deep South at least forced to address their fuckedness after getting their asses handed to them at Gettysburg.
Yankees have never once even bothered to acknowledge how fucked up their culture is, much less address it.
