That was the big failure of the 'Obama Recovery' we didn't address the false inflation of Real Estate, we only temporarily tightened up access to money. There's another Real Estate bubble ready to pop.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 9:13 amAs I've said before, I don't see the connection between printing money and economic collapse. There has to be something tangible; America can keep making whatever it is people want no matter how much imaginary money there is.
Another fact that supports this view of money and consumption is that Real Estate, which has more consumption than production, is inflating BECAUSE of printing money, but consumables, which have more production than consumption, aren't.

I was on that train for a while, Zimbabwean Hyper-Inflation, the whole thing. But what got me off it was when I started to look at the productivity of the US vs Other Nations. The US has a GDP greater than all other 6 nations in the G7. That's absolutely startling. As long as that remains true, we're not losing the Petro Dollar.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:48 am
In 2008, the entire leveraged mess fell over. Just like Venezuela, Weimar Germany, and every other failed state, they opened up the printing presses.
The only difference is that our “reserve status” enabled more printing than anyone else could have done. That’s why our currency didn’t hyper-inflate. This is why we have the most expensive military by several times over. We maintain our toehold by controlling the flow and trade of oil.
Now however, that is finally changing. The dollar is starting to be avoided, and oil is moving in other currencies.
When we can’t sell our government bonds all over the place anymore, it all goes *pop*.
United States (in millions)
GDP - 18,624,450
Agro - 204,868
Industry - 3,613,143
Service - 14,806,437
Tell me again, what exactly do we "produce"?

4th Turning Update
The previous fourth turning was kicked off in 1929. The key factors that characterized the next decade were debt, civic upheaval and global chaos. We've seen much the same since our fourth turning was sparked in 2008. So, looking at parallels in history we could be within a year of a war or other major event...………………… Enjoy.

An impasse over the federal budget reaches a stalemate. The president and Congress both refuse to back down, triggering a near-total government shutdown. The president declares emergency powers. Congress rescinds his authority. Dollar and bond prices plummet. The president threatens to stop Social Security checks. Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling. Default looms. Wall Street panics.

True enough. I forgot who was the asshole tweeting it but he was basically like "soon we will get life extension technology and if you think we have power now just imagine all the compound interest we will have gotten in a hundred years!"

I would be more skeptical if he said he wouldn't and that the world is going to end in 12 years because climate change.
That said, I am increasingly edging towards hopping off the "well they got enough gas in the tank to keep it going long enough to destroy us," talking point. I can't really be sure any more. We are at the point where God typically just tries to drown us like rats in a failed experiment after he realizes how degenerate we have become.
