Often you'll hear someone comment about what America is , or what it certainly is not. The same is done to certain degree in France and England for example.

So if we focus on America and what it means to be an "American" what does that exactly entail? What are some of the values and does this America have a geographical location? Is it as much a physical place as a mind? For example , is what is referred to as "Middle America" closer to the ideal America?

I think some areas are more "American" than others. I can't see how huge cosmopolitan metropolises such as LA or Chicago etc. are really anything other than urban centers for trade. Culture and lifestyles exist there but are they really "American"? Again, it would come down to what you mean by American.

"The City" is quickly taking over all the urban areas. One big distributed global monoculture. That's another factor right there.
