It might be the silvershirt in me talking, but there's a part of me that wouldn't mind seeing the National Guard wage a campaign against inner city crime. Of course, this is a nightmare scenario, but the thought of the military kicking in the door of a crackhouse doesn't immediately fill me with dread.

It doesn't fill me with dread either, in fact, it barely registers at all emotionally. Which is why it is good policy to strictly proscribe the military's ability to use force against us plebes. There is always a good reason to apply force to an unruly part of the population, as long as I ain't part of noncompliant part getting cracked down upon... of course.
Either way, I don't think threatening the civilian population is very, dare I say it, presidential.
