Sometimes you have to ask yourself where on the intellectual scale people fall when they're impressed with arguments like "A wall doesn't stop everything".

When what's obvious to you is not only a revelation to others, but the very foundation of their argument, you start to wonder if you're arguing with folks who are missing a chomosome.

Nice, suggest I have Downs Syndrome.
Great debate tactic there. Can't admit the wall is more about re-election and Trump's ego than actually stopping immigrants from crossing the border.
Crossings have been reducing for 30 years anyway.
Sad.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Yes according to what I have been listening to on podcasts. We are way up over the past four years and last year was a record. Unless there was some kind of mass migration event I am unaware of I am quite sure that you are wrong.

Arrests of people trying to cross illegally into the U.S. from Mexico plunged to the lowest level since 1971, as fewer people attempted the trek, the Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday.

The Trump administration, defending its “zero tolerance” immigration policy that has resulted in separating families, has repeatedly pointed to a “crisis of illegal immigration” at the border.

But government data shows that monthly crossings along the border with Mexico are dramatically lower than they were years ago.

Now attack the sources despite the fact it is government data...

It's possible arrests are down. Nobody was arrested when we were assaulted by multiple thousands of people in numerous caravans last year to my knowledge.

The most commonly used metric to measure how many people are illegally crossing into the United States is the number of people who are arrested, taken into custody or otherwise “apprehended” at or near the country’s borders.

From the 1980s to the mid-2000s, the government reported annually apprehending around 1 million to 1.6 million foreigners who illegally entered the United States at the southwestern border. In 2000 alone, federal agents apprehended between 71,000 and 220,000 migrants each month.

According to the latest statistics from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 396,579 undocumented people were apprehended after entering the country illegally in 2018.

Another 124,511 people presented themselves at ports of entry, many seeking humanitarian protection, but immigration officials found them inadmissible.

In 2000, however, more than 1.6 million illegal border crossers were apprehended. In 2001, the figure was 1.3 million.
