Meh, the only thing similar in my lifetime I can really think of was the Polish Liberation movement.
Those guys were branded criminals by the Soviets as well, and arrested by their government. It was a working class revolt that really carried on after WWII, but didn't gel until the early 80s.

It got coopted by a shipping union, and named Solidarity, but it was wide spread.

Yes, the mass media story of the Solidarity Movement is garbage. The media ran with that because it was a union leader, good Socialism. But in fact was a resistence movement that carried over from the initial Nazi and Soviet invasions of 1939. Lots of little resistance cells, their symbol was the lizard.

No deal Brexit is suicidal.
