People pick their religions. Some pick their university education, others pick climate change, some pick the government establishment.

The fundamental tenet of Christianity is that this life is not all.

One must help others, but at its core, it is help them through this test, not help them in the modern hedonistic sense.

You are allowed to refuse "charity" to chronic abusers.
What is the chapter and verse in which your Savior says that?
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Religion is a human trait. Everybody has one.

It amuses me greatly when evangelical new atheists do their public speaking circuit to convert everybody to new atheism, as if the world would become a better place if only everybody believed what they believe. That is a religion.

Environmentalists have one where the Earth is a kind of God and we must serve it. Pollution is our sin. Carbon credits the indulgences.

Feminist religion sets some mythical matriarchy in the past as the perfect state before masculinity (evil) corrupted the world. Male privilege is your original sin. Like the Nazis to the Jews, you cannot ever be forgiven and should be diminished and/or exterminated.

Libertarians and neocons worship the market. Anything that corrupts the free market is evil. The free market solves all problems. Evidence that it does not work for most participants is dismissed or the victims they claim deserve their punishment. Evil collectivists want to pervert their neoliberal end of history.

This is all religion.

One of the interesting things about AOC, and one of the reasons I kind of like her, is that she does to the merchant religion what Trump does to the cultural Marxist religion. She says silly shit, but the response from the shekel chasers is overboard and hilarious.

This time we live in now is a kind of revelatory period where a lot of religions, which before were disguised as anything but, are getting exposed. Cultural Marxism, libertarianism, etc., are coming out no different than the evangelical right of the 1980s. But they are making asses of themselves everywhere.

I think what we are saying here is that religion is a form of politics rather than the other way around.
A set of rules devised by men to control the population with the supposed aim of improving the lives of the population.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
