Don’t pretend y’all don’t know how we roll here.
Gotta fund those $15 per hour minimum wage jobs somehow (though the prevailing wisdom of the area says
something something eat the rich will always provide the money).
Holy shit, that is real??
That is absolutely real.

I looked it up to be sure, as I don't eat fish, and with a beer you would get change from a tenner.
Even in a nice restaurant with medieval oak beams to bang your head on it wouldn't be more than £15.
You would have to be somewhere pretty swanky to pay $40 and anywhere that posh probably wouldn't do fish and chips anyway.
WTF...……….. now I love Muslim Britain.

Tipping is optional too.
The poor chef is likely to be on £10hr or less though.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

My standard is 20% tip, because I worked one day in the food industry and I said fuck that. So, I respect the people that do it and live through insufferable customers. The help at that place was ok. The kid cooking was cool, it's fun to be able to talk to your cook and watch him prepare your food.

Makes chefs wash their hands more often too.

Kitchen gets cheated in the states by thieving floor employees. Almost all servers admit anonymously to pocketing part of cash tips.
The entire tip system is a fucking dumpster fire of graft.

Much more optional here. Most do tip but 10% or less is the norm.
I don't really do that kind of work anymore but I never got much more than a tenner a shift. Probably talking about twenty years ago now.
I don't think a lot of British understand that you will be expected to pay 20% on top in the US.
Americans are the best tippers over here, very popular with staff.
Clever punters buy the chef a pint as soon as they order.

For meals, it's like giving money away...……. but at the bar, it pays off big time. If I order a whiskey and tip well the first drink, they won't skimp. I'll get doubles the rest of the night for the cost of singles. Bar tenders are good that way.
