First thing you need to consider is how you came to believe that notion.

You came to believe it because of nonstop reinforcement by Hollywood, television, and the "news" media over the course of your entire life, especially for those of us back in the day when the Soviets were around and represented a real threat of nuclear war.

Second thing you need to consider why would they instill that notion in people if it's untrue.

They would instill false ideas in people's heads because they are fucking communists, communist sympathizers, or otherwise wanted to demoralize the American people. Russia, it turns out, was far weaker than they let on. So it makes sense they'd push that propaganda upon the American people through their assets in Hollywood and American journalism.

I'd say nuclear war is close to certainty at some point. The question is how long will it take and who will be the belligerents. I think it more likely to happen in Asia, but it can happen involving the US too.

As long as there are going to be wars, you are going to have nuclear wars. Duh. In a military sense, goofball. There is no war to continue, when both sides’ armies are reduced to atoms.

I knew our justification for being in Syria wasn't there. But I had already forgotten that Congress voted against it and Obama did it anyway. I was all over Obama when he violated the War Powers Act in Libya, but I missed this one. After watching that video, I'm more convinced than ever that Trump should force Congress to debate and reauthorized our involvement in the Wars in the Middle East.
