HM said it was a hallmark of liberalism to be interested in other cultural identities.

I replied, no, lots of people are interested in other cultural identities. The hallmark of liberalism is to try to reject one's own identity in some half-brained effort to become the other.

Then he kept going on about how he doesn't care about identity. I beg to differ. I think HM is just like most other liberals, and they are ALL quite obsessed with identity.

Case in point, the liberals of Asheville are fucking butthurt and outraged enough to shut down any future repeats of a private girl's school marching in the Thanksgiving Day parade (oh, I am sorry, the Asheville Holiday Parade) dressed in antebellum dresses. That's right, they are so blind to identity, that the people to whom this region belongs are not allowed to go to the parade dressed in traditional clothing of that regional identity. The article is replete with the "I thought we won that war".


But that's the MO of people like HM. When it's something like southern identity being erased by fucked up Yankees all across the South, he doesn't see identity. If it's something that affects some other racial group, then suddenly he will see oppression and evil whiteness.

All we see, day in and day out, is liberals obsessed with identity. Obsessed with "erasing whiteness", destroying the "patriarchy", etc. We can't have borders because it's racist to nonwhites. But whites aren't allowed to have an identity. That's how obsessed HM is with it. When he says he doesn't see identity, he means none of us should see identity. That's liberalism. It's fucking poison.
