The bad guys now are the numerous remnants of the communist fifth column in America, which is the source of the degeneracy. The Soviets attacked us with a systematic ideological subversion of American society. The Soviets are gone, but their attack lingers on, with nobody to control the SJWs but this ridiculous attempt by globalists to co-opt it.
We are basically walking dead from the Cold War.

The quintessential boomer perspective. All was about the Cold War, and their traumas. Nothing now is relevant, because all can be explained by the Red Scare.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Tue Dec 25, 2018 7:14 am

From my perspective, the Cold War will never end. Nothing changed in 1991, except we put a nicer face on the nuclear standoff. And now we have kabuki theater and a rising Police State, because you clowns declared victory over the world, and have been masturbating to your ‘victory’ ever since.
America is a victim of its own “success”, simply by having survived the initial adjustment of civilization discovering the power to destroy itself.

Cold War is over, but the ideological subversion attack still happened, and we are still having to deal with the menace of SJWs and progressives. Regardless of what you think, our present situation with the SJW is, by it's very nature, having to deal with the Soviet Union long after it collapsed.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 25, 2018 7:25 amThe quintessential boomer perspective. Had the Soviets not collapsed, they'd be fomenting this shit and destroying our society for their eventual take over from within. Then they would exterminate the SJWs. There literally was a KGB defector in the 1980s who helped launch this attack that described exactly what was going to happen. He described all of this shit we see today thirty years ago.

You’re giving them WAYYY too much credit. It’s all trends and forces.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Tue Dec 25, 2018 7:31 amCold War is over, but the ideological subversion attack still happened, and we are still having to deal with the menace of SJWs and progressives. Has anyone read Derbyshires We're Doomed
Derbyshire is a true pessimist, which is something I'm not drawn, but I'm curious.

I am reading Jesus' Son by Denis Johnson. It is a series of short stories about addicts and their attempt to navigate through life carrying around their destructive urges wherever they go. It contains some stream of consciousness William S Burroughs type prose, but it is far more accesible than Naked Lunch. Pretty good book so far.

Martin, check out JG Ballard. That dude is a legend. His books are like Salvador Dali paintings in written form. They tend to be apocalyptic, but his take on society collapsing is not always negative. If you had to start somewhere, I'd recommend his book High Rise or The Drowned World.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:17 pmChina Mieville.jpg
