A lifetime appointment at the top of the food chain in the federal city is rather magical stuff.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:13 amMan, there must be a real seductive power in being a supreme court justice. Even Bill Gates stepped down as CEO of Microsoft, and he was the richest man in the world. But these Supreme Court Justices just hold on to their positions till they die - like nothing in life could be better than being on the SCOTUS.
Ruth - go live a little, eh? Isn't there anything you want to do before you die, besides what you've been doing for the last 25 damn years?

+1
The GOP are just there do give you the feelz there's opposition, they have some great actors in the swamp. Rooster Gowdy can really lay down the shit, play all aggressive, 'we're going to get the bottom of Benghazi'................ all the while knowing the Paul Ryan is not allowing any real information to get out. Fucking Wikipedia even documents that BHO and Hillbot were running an Iran-Contra.
The GOP senior leadership is not there to run their stated platform, they are there to soften the blow and make Progressive Policies OK. Been happening my entire adult life. Reagan Era GOP - We will do illegal immigrant Amnesty ONE TIME, Then we're going to get serious about Illegal Immigration. Fucking Joke.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Voted From Hospital To Block Trump Asylum Restrictions
Meanwhile, C.J. Roberts kept the home fires burning.NBC reported that Ginsburg voted from her hospital bed. National Public Radio and Mother Jones magazine said she cast the decisive vote in the 5-4 decision against the Trump administration shortly after her surgery to remove two cancerous nodules from her lungs. The ruling blocks the Trump administration from implementing new rules prohibiting people from seeking asylum if they cross the border illegally.
By Friday night Ginsburg, 85, was sitting up in her chair and calling friends, NPR reported.
Justices rebuff government on asylum ban
Last week the federal government went to the Supreme Court, asking the justices to block a ruling by a federal judge that bars the Trump administration from denying asylum to immigrants who enter the United States illegally from Mexico. Today the justices turned down the government’s request, which means that the government will not be able to enforce its new policy on asylum while the government appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and, if it comes to that, the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts provided the deciding vote, as four justices – Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh – indicated that they would have granted the government’s application.

IIRC there was a case in MA where a motel owner had his motel seized as an asset forfeiture because he had rented a room to a guy who was dealing drugs out of that room. I think he won it back in MA court, but it took him several years (during which, of course, he was losing money not being able to rent out motel rooms).nmoore63 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:52 pmSuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:03 pmA ray of hope... civil forfeiture about to end?

It's a fucking scam - they see $$ and think they can take whatever they want, and if it's a small enough amount you're not gonna hire a lawyer and spend more than its worth to get your property back. They just bit off too big an asset in that case.

If this was any of us we would be forced to into a situation where short term disability would be required at a minimum. Or forced into retirement at 80+ due to age limitations.
The fact she is in a role that is paramount to the law of the land, and refuses to accept her age and frailty is actually getting in the way... not including building proof that her mental state may no longer be there.
She is becoming a dentrament to the country as a whole.
