The left tries to redefine nationalism to mean hatred towards other nations and ethnicities because (1) globalism and marxism can be seen as a kind of hatred for one's own national and ethnic identity in favor of the foreign, and the left always somehow projects their hatred and faults onto others. And.. (2) they know they cannot rationally defend their position against what nationalism actually is: putting your national interests first without ill-will towards others.
