You hover on the bounds of being Alex Jones. You're not, too intelligent, and the thoughts are cogent, but Daralon purposefully mocks you, though you don't seem to notice.

Daralon is my homey from the hood, but you didn't seem to notice that either.

I going to assume that was an honest post just because I like you, and don't want to troll you; but I suspect it wasn't because I also know how you intelligent post, and it's not StA-lite bs.
I wish I was joking. This wreck fucked up my situation big time. Drive in Florida at your own risk, because there are no repercussions from someone destroying your car. I have a buddy who got tboned by some bitch who fled the scene. This happened downtown orlando. She went to jail, but not because she was uninsured (and she definitely was uninsured), but because she left the scene of the accident. His knees were fucked up for quite some time.

Maybe your state has different laws Martin, but in Florida, you can pretty much avoid all responsibility and ruin someone's life and the state doesn't do jack shit. As someone without a good job, this is nerve wracking.

As an aside, I do go a bit over the top in my posts sometimes, but when I discuss personal shit, I am usually coming here to vent, so often it is true and how I feel. I don't agree with STA on everything, but he is one of my main niggas on here. We grew up in the same city real talk.

Even your own insurance can fuck you.

An old HS friend's (& housemate after for a few years) father bought his "mid-life crisis" car in 1990, a 1st gen Mazda Miata (red, or course). Something like $18k at the time, covered with full collision policy of course. Less than a year later he's driving to work in it one morning, gorgeous sunny summer morning... there's a car stopped coming the other way with their left turn signal on (to cut across his side when they make the turn)...

From behind the person waiting to turn left comes a non-english speaking driver, unlicensed/unregistered/uninsured, who decides it's a good idea to pass the person in front of them, with their left turn signal on remember, on the left... Head on into my friends father, totalling both cars. The other driver wound up in court, I'm sure, but you can't get blood from a stone so at best they maybe got a little jail time.

My friend's dad gets a broken wrist in the accident, tries to collect on the collision for the car's value, remember on an $18k car less than a year old, his insurance company says they'll give him $12k, and when he balked at that they basically told him "if you want more you should drop us and sue us" - pretty much since they had nobody to sue to reclaim the money they weren't going to pay him what it was really worth. He did sue, but not sure if mattered since then he had to pay for a lawyer.

That's what pisses me off. Insurance companies obviously lobby the shit out of state and federal government to allow these situations to happen. I get that they are a business and in it to make money, but its really grotesque the way they fuck over their own customers, who have been consistently paying them for years. Your friends dad did the right thing, paid his premiums, spent extra $ on collision insurance, drove safe, and got his wrist broken, vehicle totalled, and lowballed by his own service provider. The illiterate foreigner moron doesn't give a shit, and probably went on to total another person's car. No sweat off their back. They didn't pay 18k for their dream car. It doesn't take a genius to see that this system is fucked.

If insurance companies have to pay out for accidents, you'd think they'd correctly see uninsured drivers as being a huge fucking problem for them. You'd think they would lobby congress to make it a felony to drive uninsured, if for the only reason so they could force people to buy their product. That would be an instance of graft working in the favor of the small guy. I don't care if this law gets passed for greed, but it needs to be passed. Uninsured drivers are a nightmare waiting to happen for anyone who has the misfortune of driving that day.

Personally, I think this is another reason we need to force every American and driver to learn fucking English. The bitch who rearended me a year ago, didn't speak a word. She was jabbering in Spanish and was on the phone with her cousin. This scumbag explained to me that she didn't have a license, and the car was in his name, and what my plan was. I told him my plan was to wait for the cops I called and let them settle it. He acted like I was an asshole for doing so. I had to wait even longer because they had to call for a Spanish cop to speak with this imbecile. If you can't speak English, you are gonna struggle with road signs and other things. I don't want people like that driving. This lady didn't get arrested for driving w/o a license. I let it go, and then less than six months later this other uninsured bitch (who spoke ebonics not English) hits me in Holly Hill. Fuck this.

Basically, our system penalizes those who are responsible and make sure their shit is up to date, and lets those who are a complete fucking disaster skate by. Its the worst possible system. Driving isn't a right, its a privelege, and if you can't read fucking road signs or be bothered to have a license or insurance, there is a bus seat with your name engraved on it. Fuckers....

From Martin's perspective, I think he is saying that you should only have to get insurance for yourself and your own vehicle. It shouldn't matter who is at fault. Your insurance pays for your car, their insurance pays for their car.

The only problem with that is that it will lead to more uninsured drivers, which would wipe out the insurance industry to some extent. If there are little to no penalties for driving without insurance, and nobody is going to sue you because the insurance company just deals with it, then imagine how many people would just go uninsured.
