That is rich coming from the guy who celebrates Medieval siege weapons. My ancestors are Scottish and your own relatives brutally launched flaming projectiles into my family's town of Bearsden, burning most of them alive. The English forced the survivors to remove their kilts and stand in the rain without food or water for days.
Great story.
Of course, any true student of history knows that the first kilt didn't appear until the 16th century. Trebuchets, on the other hand, were the weapon of the 13th - 14th centuries.
More anti-English propaganda from the agents of Alba.
Do you and Grumpy get together to craft these lies?
The tartans go back eons, even if pleated kilts do not. Ancient scots went into battle wearing a massive hard-on and some war paint.
Regardless, your pasty rapist ancestors showed no quarter to the rightful landowners of the north, and were responsible for centuries of genocide.
The Scots only had to stop the border raids and accept their new overlords.
On a serious note, the clearances were a black mark on English history. Putting profit over people.
If it hadn't been for the clearances it's possible that both of your families would have stayed in Scotland and you would be British now instead of settling for being Americans.
What can I say, I'm sorry my ancestors forced your ancestors to become Yanks.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

That's not true. You are confusing the Scots with the Picts, whom the Scots genocided when they invaded from Hibernia. Best case argument for first occupation of Scotland outside their eastern shore strongholds would be somewhere in the 500s, so they were there maybe a century before the Saxons arrived in Britannia.

And... then there were the Irish.
Admit it, the most psychotic group won the islands.

I actually took a geneology test, to make sure that there weren't any potato eating lowlifes in my ancestry. I thank God every day that not a single distant relative of mine ever so much as peeled a potato.
