Simple math and demographics - the fact that the GOP lost with a decent economy is telling...it means they can't win anymore.
I don't see it that way. It is VERY rare that the president's party gains house seats during his mid-term and also rare that the president's party gains senate seats.

In terms of house gains, Obama lost 63 house seats in 2010. Trump only lost 39. The last time the president's party gained seats during the mid-term (either house,) was 2002.

Pretty chart, here: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/wh ... et-redder/

I think this was a pretty mediocre showing by team Blue. It was certainly not a "wave."

I disagree. Because of the Senate and Electoral College, Rs still have a chance at bat, but demographically, the Socialists already won. Even with Candice Owens, Kanye West, the greatest economy & stock market, and no wars, the D vote still went up. Thank god Kavanaugh got Rs out. Trump wins the next election but that’s it - we’re Socialist. The Collapse may slow the inevitable.

Then why did they do so poorly in the mid-terms?

When I run again, I want to do as "poorly" as the Ds.

Coming Dark age? Collectivism centralizes power which means govenrment picks winners and loosers -- innovation and discovery typically suffers.

The risk goes both ways but without The Collapse, weaklings & Losers are being buoyed up. There's a chance that Liberty could survive if the Marxists could be shut down.

It's not about the individual wins. If their "we're not Trump," message was truly resonating with the middle, they would have gained more seats than they did - Obama lost over 60. Plus, they should have (per history,) taken back both houses, but they lost Senate seats.

Did you think it was a blue wave? I think it was more than a drop, but clearly not anything like a wave. If the Trump hatred was full on, they would have done a lot more damage to team red.

The people on this forum focus way too myopically on the extreme fringe. I'm more to the right than I was 10 years ago (slightly to the right instead of slightly to the left on the compass,) but the as-far-to-the-right-as-you-can-get types here think I'm extreme left.

yeah i wouldn't call kath a lefty, at least in the contexts i see around here

worth mentioning that democrats had more senate seats at risk than the republicans, 74% i think. i imagine that republicans will have to overcome that hump in the next election. if democrats didn't blow the kavanaugh hearings they would have won the senate too

@Kath and others - we can test her theory about pendulum next cycle - Personally hope she's right - but I have my doubts.

It's not a pendulum and the two parties are not even remotely similarly bad. The democratic party is waging a low-intensity war against non-urban Americans. The democrats stand for objectively evil things, many of which Kath herself supports, whereas many Republicans stand for bad ideas rather than pure evil. The only rational choice here is for every non-degenerate American to vote Republican and vote out the neocon and libertarian garbage in the primaries.

Otherwise, shit is going to get ugly in what is left of "America" if the democrats ever again regain control of the federal government.

The Dan Carlin fallacy is bullshit.
