Re: 2018 Mid-Term Elections
Capps sent me his take on the lack of integrity of politicians. I told him to post it here.
I’ve run. I’ve debated. I’ve been to the newspapers. I’ve been inside the machinery. You just have to hope a Trump comes along occasionally.

conflation again where is the Biden Rule or nuclear option "a power grab." It is simply a squabble over rules and procedure on a power that the Senate always had. Folksy witticism 0/4.Kath wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 7:45 pmMeh. It literally doesn't matter who is in office. Some minor details may change, but, the next team will be corrupt, will continue pick away at my freedom, bit by bit, will continue to grow the military, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum.
I'm looking out for me, as does everyone else. Wall Street loves a split government, and I love my 401(K). It's an easy choice when I know that no serious changes for the better of The Governed will ever take place. I'm looking to retire in 8-12 years. That's my priority.
Prediction; in January, some sort of clown will propose they grab even more power to screw the other side. And so it goes. It's predictable and not boring at the same time.

We disagree. No biggie.
These clowns keep making it easier and easier to skirt compromise. When you aren't required to talk to team "other," there is no reason to try and find common ground. This is why a split congress is good for Americans. All we get now is shitty legislation. If that's the only thing we can get, I would rather have a whole lot less of it.
The middle 40% of this country doesn't appreciate all the petty bullshit. They hate extremism on both sides. This is why they never let one team have too much total power for very long, at all. The middle decides elections. Partisans just do everything they can to paint other as EVIL, BAD.... etc.
Why are all the Gods such vicious cunts? Where's the God of tits and wine?

40% of the country feels the same. It's just sooooooooooooooo far to the right here that anyone just slightly to the right looks like extreme left to you.

It's fucking stupid, Kath. All you are doing is trying to create the facade that you are somehow above everybody else, while doing JACK SHIT about a God damned thing. You voted for the God damned "migrant caravan", for fuck sake. You are exactly why intellectuals stretching back to the classical Greeks said democracy is a total shit show.
All you want to do is pretend like you are somehow smarter than everybody else, while actively making shit worse by perpetuating the problem. Then you can say "well, I just voted for all kinds of stupid shit, it's not like I identify with a party". Give it a rest already.

Everyone one thinks their way is the smart way, genius. I voted for Scott for Senate; Nerd voted migrant caravan. Again, 40% of the country agrees with me. You are in the minority, only 25-30% of the country is straight red ticket. Same for partisan hacks on the left, also in the minority.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 7:37 am

No one wants compromise, they just dont want to be the bad guy and make a definitive decision.Kath wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 7:11 amWe disagree. No biggie.

I think people do. A 10% approval rating doesn't indicate that Americans are in love with partisanship.
