Freedom isn't the same thing as liberty; you can have freedom in a socialist village just not liberty (personal autonomy).

Two different things. I do not support socialism and that is not how it was presented in the OP. From my view, my village are the people I collaborate with to get shit done we can't do ourselves. When my neighbor helped clear the tree in our yard that fell during Michael, it wasn't socialist. It was my village helping me because that's what neighbors do.

I think history is littered with allies who thought they were partners till they got dicked over. And then there's the partners who dick you over. So who's a rugged individualist to trust?

No, I think it's justification to shoot all the fucking lawyers who think that parsing the difference between words like this makes any sense to most people. Before lawyers a deal was a deal, and if someone thought you'd screwed them you'd get an axe in the head rather than a letter from their attorney. It was a fine incentive to deal fairly.
