Would Hanarchy view a high school National Socialist club and teacher Ally sticker as divisive?
National Socialism is, kind of by definition, predicated on divisions, so I don't think it is a very good analogy. As a personal matter, I don't care if people want to signal their beliefs though.

Now, if we are talking about an actual Swastika, that is sort of insane and confused, since it is the National Socialist symbol for a different nation, so it makes little sense for an American National Socialist club to display it. But, as a matter of principle, I am not opposed to Americans harboring either Nationalist or Socialist sympathies, or both at the same time, nor am I opposed to school clubs based around the discussion or promotion of a myriad of political ideologies. It is useful and instructive to prance among confused political concepts as a teenager. Lord knows I did, and, according to many, probably still do.

I would also add, vis a Swastika specifically, and not any National Socialist symbol generally, that all symbols are not equal, and acquire meaning from their use. So, once a foreign nation marches against America and her allies in a total war, bent on the extermination of everyone not carrying a rainbow F emblazoned on their banners, I will accept that it a 'divisive' symbol. Until then, it is just a bumper sticker displaying a preference. Sort of pushing at the open door of gender/sexual acceptance, but harmless.
This will backfire in a major way. I think turning schools into places of political exchange is stupid for several reasons.

1. It will lead to tension between the student body and among the staff as well. It will cause fights and retarded ass walkouts. Again, all students are stupid.
2. Tax dollars shouldn't be funding political clubs at school. The point of school is for learning math, writing, science etc, not to wave banners and create distractions for others.
3. Why do we want to carry all this divisive vitriolic culture war bullshit into neutral areas like a school? If you are into that stuff, turn on your tv, or go to a rally, or do whatever. I don't think middle and high schoolers should have to deal with that shit while they are in class, nor should the teachers.

Yeah, count me down as not being a fan of turning schools and universities into places for political and social change. Ridiculous.

Not really, dude. I would squash free speech on campus like a fucking bug. You go to school to educate yourself. People who want to change the world ought to do that shit *off campus*.

Free speech in the academic world should apply to academic pursuits. It really should only apply to professors and graduate students. The undergrads can eat their cafeteria gruel and shut the fuck up. Get an education before you start trying to educate other people. Dumb asses still hung over from their frat party the night before, who can't even tell me who fought the Spanish American War, can take their free speech to the Internet and shut the fuck up on campus. It's gone too far. These people are morons. They don't have any business shitting up college campuses with their Facebook political ideas.

The only way "free speech on campus" can possibly sound like a good idea to somebody is if that person actually believes that everybody is equal.

Ironically, college students aren't really any more wise or knowledgable than high school students, so their protests are by and large retarded too. They are living in a sort of Marxist bubble, insulated from the real world and economic and social realities. Those protests do fuck over students trying to get to class and actually do something productive besides advocate for some non existent problem.

It's conceivable that giving high school students more civics, history, and classics, and more debate clubs and other extra curricular opportunities for critical thinking, would better prepare them for college.

You can't very well complain that people show up to college with nothing but facebook assembled political and civics in one breath, and then decry improving those areas of education in high school with the next.

Of course teenagers have stupid ideas. The solution isn't providing less education.

More ignorance is never the answer.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
