OK, bongmeisters, back to the subject:

Who here thinks the Federal state and Beauregard Sessions should be involved in prosecuting the Pittsburgh murder defendant?
That's a different statement than the OP

However, The People want to prosecute sex crimes at a much higher level than cutting off someone's finger, for example, so if killing people just because they're Jews or Blacks or Republicans, or whatever, rises the temperature to federal, so what?

What is the authority for the federal government to prosecute the defendant in the Pittsburgh murders?

If all you have is "the People," that is to say "politics," just say that.

This is the exact premise of the OP, BTW. Some of you have listened to McClanahan. The episode I posted just came out this morning.

No confusion on my part.

What's the authority for those federal crimes?

If he drove on a federal road to get to the shooting, its a federal crime. If he paid sales tax for the gun, its also a federal crime. Just fyi there Fife.

If a PA jury finds him not guilty of murder, then the Feds can charge him with denial of the civil rights or whatever. Until then it's local.

While most rural kids with half a brain will still chew off their arms to escape to the city, much has been made of an infant trend of Millenials driven out of the big cities by sky high housing. But they're your worst nightmare since they'll bring their liberal urban attitudes with them rather than turn into shitkickers. They'll start voting for "new urbanist" planning and demanding their fancy coffee shops. I've seen this happen in numerous small towns in the Mid Atlantic & New England where the wealthy weekenders became residents, attracting the young and less wealthy to provide services for them, eventually outnumbering the "indigenous people". Call it the "Woodstock" template.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Actually.. no. The ones that bring that attitude colonize other small cities.

The ones that pick up farming and small business out in the Styx tend to be okay. I do not agree with their politics, but the really bad urban traits start to disappear.

That is the most debbie downer thing I've heard ever. You are probably right though. Its time for us to start stockpiling canned goods and beef jerky when society collapses. I'm going to punch myself in the testicles every day to build up a tolerance for humiliating agonizing emasculation that is soon to follow with this disentigration of the West. What a bummer. I'm going to pay my car insurance off tomorrow.

The feds don't really get involved in kidnapping unless it is across state boundaries - any single state wouldn't have jurisdiction to even arrest the kidnapper in another state, so that makes sense.

Counterfeiting, well, all currency in this country is printed by the federal treasury department, states don't print money, so kinda makes sense the feds would be the ones interested in finding/prosecuting counterfeiters.

"Hate crimes"?? I don't see the justification for federal involvement. Maybe if the criminal fled to another state or something, but if they're caught in the state the crime happened in they should be prosecuted by the state.
