I don’t know anything about the current CT candidates. We had a similar problem with the current NJ governor, who came right out and said that his first priority was the public unions.
I wish both parties would put forth more centrist, practical candidates.
What do you mean by centrist? The left has gone full blown Marxist. There is no center when it comes to Marxism as far as I'm concerned. Bill Clinton is a Nazi by today's DNC standards.

I'm not a fan of most republicans in office, but the shtick about both parties being equally bad doesn't hold up anymore imo. I'm not going to wait around for this perfect party that I will be ideologically aligned with on every issue. That will never happen. Right now, I think the democrats are attacking the concept of merit, family, nationalism, economics, masculinity, whiteness, free speech, and right to bear arms. They are becoming increasingly vocal about it. I'm not expecting miracles, but at least the GOP is preventing this lunacy from spreading outside major urban centers. I'm voting republican, and it is by far the lesser of the two evils. The democrats have made this a very easy choice for me.MilSpecs wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 3:53 pmThe right is no better. Disagree. The Republicans are just as bad with their theocratic, authoritarian leanings. Both parties are corporatist.heydaralon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 5:32 pm

I also truly don't get why anyone would care so much about the arguably least important items on your list if economics is arguably the most important. Do you want to be white with a gun in a shack falling down around you? Does masculinity matter if a cop can stop you and take your cash and car on the spot? Is national pride going to help when you can't pay for your child's medication or your mother's cancer treatment?

I don't think the democrats are addressing any of the problems you mentioned. They are too busy worrying if the oscars are too white, or if HR departments and colleges and law enforcement agencies should be able to fire a man, imprison him, and ruin his reputation because of the word of a woman w/o evidence. They are too busy mocking trump's hair and tan, and attempting to dismantle the legal foundations of our country via #metoo and #russiagate, two simultaneous witch hunts. Guilty until proven innocent as long as a woman says so or if someone six degrees separated makes a plea deal.. 40% of our children are born via single mothers. That's fine, its not going to affect future crime, education, literacy, or success rates, and we should do more to incentivize and encourage this behavior. Why stay married and have a stable family? This guy said something we don't like! Let's file HR complaints and use federally subsidized banks, media, and tech companies to suppress his wrongspeak! You want good jobs? Lets bring in 10 million illegals, to underrcut your wages. We need all of them, and they have more value in our eyes than a white blue collar conservative who pays taxes. They will vote D, so nbd. etc.MilSpecs wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 7:54 pmDisagree. The Republicans are just as bad with their theocratic, authoritarian leanings. That is how half the country views your party, and your media and your officials coverage of Trump has been so biased that they will never take you seriously again.

There has not been anything as bad as the current democratic party since the last time the democrats started civil war. False equivalency game is played out, by the way. You guys have been doing that for decades. Nobody is impressed by it.
I swear to God, every time one of your victim groups kill a lot of people, or your protesters beat innocents into a coma, you guys roll out this false equivalency narrative.
Jihadi kills a dozen people in some Israeli school.. "But the Israelis are just as bad". Antifa beats a woman in the face with a club for wearing the wrong hat.. "But the Trumpsters.."
Give it a rest already.

This why I'm voting (R) across the board this election. If the Dems think I'm an evil privileged racist misogynistic bastard who should just be killed/genocided because I'm a "white male" (two things I was born with, can't change, and don't IMHO actually define anything about who I am as a person) then they can go fuck themselves. I'm not for gay rights, wamyns rights, Latino rights, etc - I'm for EQUAL rights, that includes me as a white male having the same rights as everyone else. They don't appear to be for that.heydaralon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 8:50 pmI don't think the democrats are addressing any of the problems you mentioned. I doubt it'll make a difference here in CT, but I'll be damned if I win that least add to the numbers going against them. Doubtful it'll make them change their ways, but it's worth a try.

As to the Hahhvahd/Yale crowd - yes. These are the kids that will wind up in politics or upper echelon positions that in a decade will be working their way into real power in this country. That scares me.MilSpecs wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:44 amRidiculous. Few Democrats think like that. As to democrats in general, thus far both parties have underfunded/overpromised on pensions that are now reaching crisis levels. Democrats want to keep increasing taxes, driving out growth and innovation - nobody is going to move their business to CT given how dem control has been taking it. Several large businesses have already fled, more will follow it we stay on the track we're on... Perhaps it's time for something different?
(I don't delude myself it will actually happen, I've been putting a lot of thought into where I'd like to move to... Be nice to be closer to family, except both my siblings live in Portland OR and no chance in hell I'd move there. Both of them are thinking of moving away given how Portland has been going though... So we've had some discussions of future plans/location).

They are playing the same game they do with Muslims. When you look at the many opinion polls, the so-called "moderate" Muslims still support the radicals in large numbers. Milspecs is similar in that, while she may not participate in degenerate pussy hat marches (an assertion I personally suspect could be untrue), she supports the radicals. She will cover for them, defend them, and even here you can see how she tried to fabricate false moral equivalency to minimize their poisonous impact upon society.
Really, we all operate like this. It is only a matter of whether you honestly acknowledge it. It is not so much that people adopt some hypothetical moderate approach to an ideology but, rather, a matter of how well they can live the prescriptions of the ideology they adopted. As such, the people who best live out that ideology are sort of like saints to the Catholic and Orthodox. Of course we support them when we adopted and believe the ideology. It is dishonest to minimize the impact of the "saints" of any ideology. Marxists of all stripes, including milspecs, need to be honest with themselves and the rest of us about this.
