Well, Fuck, I guess the Lefties are right. Time to do away with the Constitution, borders and voting.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 2:02 pm... you have to track 300+ million people’s current status (disabled, pregnant, net tax payer, etc) and cross reference that with the issues being voted on before determining who can vote?
Sounds like an impossibly huge undertaking. We can’t even limit our voting to legal citizens under the current rules (aka almost every adult citizen can vote). Is an idea still good if it’s not possible to implement?

... because we can’t feasibly track the current status of 300+ million people in real time and compare that to each issue being voted on to determine if they have a say?
Seems extreme. Surely there are some good answers that fall somewhere between destroying the system and demanding a system beyond human capabilities.

Note how he cannot attack the validity of the principle as it applies to the fundamental flaw in democracy. He's just saying it's impossible to mitigate. But that means democracy is doomed, always.
It's probably not the best way to do a lot of things. Maybe at the local level it works. But at the national level, where we make decisions of existential importance to half of the North American continent? No. This has been a really bad idea, and the more people we enfranchise the worse this idea becomes.
We are talking about, in essence, the same thing as a gang rape when the majority of the people are not paying the costs for the policies they vote on. A gang rape is the purist form of democracy.

We can't get congresscritters or SCOTUS justices to recuse themselves from voting in their own interests, and that's just hundreds. How can you do it with hundreds of millions?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 2:09 pmNote how he cannot attack the validity of the principle as it applies to the fundamental flaw in democracy. We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Note I didn’t address the value of cats as an oral sedative.
That doesn’t mean I can’t prove cats are not a sedative when crammed in one’s mouth, it simply means I didn’t address it at all.
Textbook argument from ignorance - "the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence".
Your entire premise is flawed because It myopically focuses on warfare, as if agriculture, architecture, and countless other endeavors aren’t equally as critical to society. A nation may not exist without warriors, but it’s not existing without food, water, or shelter either. The whole idea of arbitrarily picking one pillar upon which society is built and making it the only metric that matters is kinda dumb.

I do not think it possible with our current system.
My point had more to do with how unstable that system truly is.

A gang rape is the purest form of democracy ... in a society where rapist outnumber non-rapists.
Not the most compelling argument I’ve read here.
