I personally don't equate liberty with being able to buy "plastic pumpkins" or cheesy Xmas decorations from China for "only $2.99", that we'll then toss into a landfill in a year or two when it breaks. Mindless consumption isn't "liberty" IMHO, cutting down on it because it gets more expensive and people need to make tough choices isn't necessarily a bad thing.
