Re: The internet takeover thread
Before I start shouting my mouth off about something I look at it from as many angles as possible. I'm pretty concerned about not embarasing myself by speaking from a place of ignorance. That's the Swede in me.
I look at the place where I first heard the story and see what sources they have. I google some unique part of the story, like a name and place and some relevant word to see if can get more coverage and then pick a couple of diverse sources. I read them all and try to see what's common and what might have been omitted, exaggerated or misrepresented in the different versions.
I can't tell you how many times that has stopped me from sharing and ranting about something. Getting a complex view of a matter has a calming effect on me.

As I have been saying for years: the merchant mentality is an anathema to what people call the "right". The division is not what is being sold by the corporate media, but globalism versus nationalism, and degeneracy (personal *and* social) against decent people.

What the heck are you doing on this forum? I think you’ve missed the spirit of this place.
Seriously tho, Bjorn knows how to gather information, he’s a history guy working in a historical society. He knows about primary and secondary sources and comparing known evidence and reported facts to acquire the most accurate picture possible.
That’s all there is to it, really. When you want the closest thing to the truth you can get you look at all the available evidence, weigh it according to the source, and see which narrative is best supported by the most reliable evidence.

I need the perfekt storm of injustice, false reporting and miss-use of power to get into that truly burning rage that is such an inspiration. I think the Count Dancula affair was the most recent example. It there are some boneheads around to defend the atrocities helps as well.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 7:39 amWhat the heck are you doing on this forum?
