The two parties are so out of touch because their ostensible platforms bear no resemblance to the primary divide of our nation: globalism/Marxism versus nationalism.

The part of the deep state rallied against our democracy are globalists. The MIC faction has to be nationalist by its very nature.

This war was coming no matter what, but had Hillary won, I think you'd see the MIC faction trying to undermine her, albeit in a far more subtle and sophisticated fashion.

I think you are on the mark about the factions in play. I would add that the big split in the factions happened under Obama and his determination to help jihadis gain power.
