Re: Late Cycle Capitalism
*sigh*
No argument-having DB at it again.
When you get some facts and sources, let me know. My posts stand for themselves. Every last point I made is backed up with sources and the historical record.
Pretending like this toxic shit is "capitalism" is laughable, by the way.
Not that what I wrote was an indictment against capitalism anyway. LOL

It's your article, Alice. You're the one that posted that marxist crap for some reason, apparently as support for your latest rant, America has been cancer from Columbus forward.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:23 amFallacy. Moving goal posts. Straw man.
Original contention: America was founded on some toxic shit that doomed us from the start and colonial America was hardly a better quality of life for most participants than medieval England.

No. That was your silly insertions into the article that had fuck all to do with the point and everything to do with your silly ideology.Fife wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:31 amIt's your article, Alice. You find your minor in Economics more than sufficient to absolve you of ever having to produce a single source in an economic argument.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:31 am*sigh*

Likewise I’m sure you’ll agree my major in history is more than adequate to tell you that you’re absolutely wrong about how idyllic life was in medieval Europe. I’m glad you found a little book somewhere with a passage that transformed your views on medieval times. Try reading a few more little books about it.

Re: Late Cycle Capitalism
In any case, let the record show they buried their loss on the original points and wish to move goalposts and discuss an argument I didn't make.
Points they lost:
1. Medieval England featured an objectively better quality of life than colonial America.
2. Medieval England was far more hygienic than colonial America, with daily bathing and even cleanliness ordinances to reduce risk of diseases.
3. Medieval English peasants got about a third of the year off on vacation and their workdays were far more leisurely than our contemporary peasant analogs (working poor) who get about zero days off and work long hours, comparatively.
This isn't about capitalism. It's about America. Lots of capitalist nations out there have better qualities of life. Our's is garbage not because of capitalism, but because of the various cancers our nations was founded upon (such as human exploitation as a virtue).

Negative. My opinion of your Aggy history degree at this point is not favorable to your cause.DBTrek wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:36 amYou find your minor in Economics more than sufficient to absolve you of ever having to produce a single source in an economic argument.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:31 am*sigh*

I have posted sources. You have posted zero. You just made personal attacks on me and buried your loss in already two pages of insults.

Re: Late Cycle Capitalism
Title of thread, literally: Late Cycle Capitalism
/shrug
I’m not even getting into this bizarre side-argument where some Marxist professor wrote that “medieval records show” ... “therefore medieval life was” ... because even HS dropouts know that illiterate medieval peasants didn’t record shit. Therefore taking anything the Church or nobility recorded and extrapolating peasant quality of life from it is ridiculous, akin to taking the Romans assessment of the Celts at face value.

And I replied to an earlier tangent before you lot wanted to change the topic when you got crushed with facts. Thanks for the admission.
StA: <posts facts about medieval England compared to colonial America>
DB/Fife/Martin: <disputes them>
StA: <provides sources>
DB/Fife: "You're a socialist!!!"
LMFAO
Note how Martin bailed on you.

What’s this? You demand people with greater credentials live up to standards you justify dismissing with your lesser ones? Well, I guess that says a lot about you.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 8:40 am

Re: Late Cycle Capitalism
If you want to make it about capitalism..
I think capitalism is very clearly nearing its shelf date, but most of the shit that the left gets pissed about with respect to capitalism isn't really a product of capitalism but a product of some of the more fucked up underlying assumptions of American culture.
You have capitalist countries out there putting out enormous amount of innovations per capita and producing a very high rate, without the low quality of life relative to productivity that America is infamous for. We are like this because our values are fucked up.
