The party of "small government" decided to spend trillions on a boondoggle, because "Yeah, but Democrats and FDR"

Militarize the damn border for fuck sake. Checkpoints and patrols done by the California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas National Guard units. And if needed rotate other state's guards into play. Recruit and retain more Border Patrol agents/guards. Maybe that would be as effective or more than a "wall" and cost less (?). At least research it and do a cost / benefit analysis to get the best answer.

Do you think "small" government means number of people working for it or size of the budget? Since money is imaginary, it makes no difference how much The Wall costs. (I thought I'd gone over that in this forum multiple times?)

Requiring proof of legal residency to get welfare or healthcare and mandatory e-verify would help a lot but Republicans dont want to have to pay their employees. It's easier to have them subsidized by the shrinking middle class. At some point it has to end.

You keep saying that, and we all know it’s true. However, if the idea of fiat currency as a genuine means of exchange falls through, we’ll be in Mad Max the next week.

And deficits are imaginary, only so much as US Treasury Bonds are “imaginary”. Once you can’t sell them anymore, or you devalue the dollar enough to make them worthless, youre Out of money.

To answer your question: the money is all that matters. I don’t care if a department employs 50 plebs, or 1,000.

The quest for "small government," at least in my mind, is less people. The 2 Parties are basically divided between those who receive money from government, and those who pay money to government. In a Democracy, smaller government means less people working for government, and fewer people dependent on government, so there's not so many people on the "receive" side.

Even if the $ wasn't the fiat currency, if Americans produced as much as they consumed, it wouldn't make any difference. Having the fiat currency makes it so we can consume more than we produce.

For a while, yes. And we’ve been doing so for decades.

You appear to be conflating “working for” and “dependent on” the government.

Why would you give a tinkers cuss about how many people work for the government? All that should matter is how much money they’re charging you for it in taxes.

As for people dependent on the government - again, who gives a shit? The money that it costs and wastes is what matters. There are certainly societal effects from useless people collecting welfare, but I don’t think that’s what you’re talking about.
