Prosecutors in Montenegro have called for the arrest of a former CIA officer, accusing him of involvement in an alleged Russian-backed coup attempt in 2016.
US officials met secretly with Venezuelan military officers who were plotting a coup against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, both a current and a former US official confirmed to CNN.
American officials met with the renegade Venezuelan military officers several times over the last year after the Venezuelan officers made contact, but Washington ultimately decided against supporting the coup, the two sources said.
The US did not provide the Venezuelan officers with any support and the plans for the coup ultimately fell apart, the sources said.
what was the MHF verdict on this one? quickest way for me to stop supporting Trump would be for his name to get attached to something like this
I was wondering why the fuck we let Montenegro into NATO last year. What a joke. False flag a Russian coup to lure them into NATO. For what retarded purpose do we need them?
Again: given that CNN was just caught making up sources and lying to people, what merit does any of this "reporting" really have? CNN is telling you they know a guy who knows a guy, and you have to trust them.. Trump did bad things.
I guess if it were for real, we'd have to talk with them if for no other reason than to gather intelligence in order to draft assessments for success/failure and project what could become of such a thing.
In reality they would need our blessing, not necessarily direct support. Their best option would be to get support from Columbia and/or Brazil.
The current government of Venezuela is not friendly. They are not enemies either. It's more of a situation where we know this fucked up regime has to go one way or another and we just need to monitor how that happens.
I don't think the Columbians will trust the Venezuelan military that much, and honestly, the military is basically the force behind this regime, so it's probably a bullshit story in my opinion. Maybe there is a grain of truth there, but I don't seriously think the military will be the ones to fix it. If anything, they would just want to make their control more explicit.
Their military is totally communist and gangster now. They managed to purge the good officers a long time ago. We are talking about the people who helped fund and support FARC for all those decades. These are evil men.
