I like that second option, as that would actually force the ones in Sweden that are least likely to talk with each other, to talk with each other. They would choose between a four year long clusterfuck, or actually try to understand what the other means, and compromise accordingly.

The forces that produced Brexit, Trump & SD don’t go away unless they are addressed; they only get stronger & angrier. Of course, Cultural Marxists would rather keep the trajectory going their direction, hoping they break gravitational force before the ship plunges back to earth in a fireball.

Well, a very good thing is that the Swedish Social Democrat Party is at it's lowest since 1911. From 1914 elections until today they have had a 30% or more of the votes (twice over 50%). Now it's 28,4%.

Little correction:

Sweden has been an EU member country since 1st of January 1995.
It isn't in the monetary union, if that was in your mind.

And there still mostly white (roughly 80% or so).

Long term trend.

First large migration wave to hit them was us, Finns, in the late 60's and 70's. Well, that didn't bother them too much as they had jobs to fill back then and the migrant workers didn't create a huge problem. The majority of those Finns actually came back to Finland. Later they got actual refugees during the Yugoslav civil war in the 1990's. Last wave have been people from the Middle East, and now Syrians are the largest group of foreign born people in Sweden (although as an ethnic group there are over 700 000 with Finnish heritage in Sweden).

Quantifying immigration is tricky. Who is an immigrant? Do you count everyone in the country or only those who have been granted asylum? Even a lot of those (~30%) will move back home eventually. Perhaps we should restrict it to citizens but some people, especially love imports, never become citizens since they want their children to have dual citizenship, even if they spend the rest of their life in Sweden.

When does an immigrant threaten Swedish culture? We still have enclaves of Finns, living on welfare, who never bothered to learn Swedish dating back to the '70s and we have Syrians who have mastered our strange language in less than a year and are leading productive lives in their chosen profession.

Talking volume doesn't get us far. We have dialed back immigration drastically by now. We need to get it down even lower and start focusing on integration and assimilation. Joblessness among immigrants has to come down if we want to preserve our public sector spending. If we can't fix that our education, health care, and safety nets will suffer.
