Take a piece of paper and draw a vertical line down the middle. On one side write down all the stealing and bad Amazon has done. On the other side write down all the value they have added to the lives of ordinary people.
Now repeat this exercise, but this time for the US Federal government.
Study the bottom lines and then tell me which outfit should be scrubbed.

I already explained that the taxpayers are paying for these people whether they take low-wage employment or not. Taxpayers pay either way.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:34 pmI am not defending shit here.DBTrek wrote: Ah, the ol’ “They have it, so we’re entitled to take it” defense.

“Well, Amazon CAN afford to give us an extra $450 million this year, so we’re entitled to it”
I should’ve known.
I am asking why taxpayers shouldn't have some voice in Amazon employment since they are partly fucking paying for said employment.
Now we’re Just arguing over whether employers should be allowed to hire for low-wage jobs. I say they should.

You didn't explain that at all. You just stated without argument.DBTrek wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:37 pmI already explained that the taxpayers are paying for these people whether they take low-wage employment or not. Americans were falling into welfare in record numbers because real income has been stagnant or falling for about thirty years now. People depend upon the state in these cases BECAUSE of people like Jeff Bezos who is essentially gaming the system.
Socialism for the rich and ky for your middle class ass is *not* something I would taut as an obvious good. That's just me, though. YMMV

A single, young adult, making $13.50 an hour isn’t on welfare. A guy with three kids making the same is. Amazon hires both.
How is Amazon suddenly fucking over America because the guy with three kids still needs food stamps?

Well you are partially right. A male in general is not qualified for welfare. Welfare is designed for women.
But more to the point: the fact that a young single male can comfortably live in temporary abject poverty does not constitute some set of propositions that logically conclude with "therefore a person who has to feed a family has to accept wages so low that they require food assistance from the federal government".

Somebody really should stop Bezos and the Target Corporation from forcing people to accept jobs at gunpoint.

That's not an argument that responds to anything I wrote.
Should the American taxpayer not have a say in Amazon's employment conditions when the American taxpayers are fucking footing for part of the paycheck??

No, they should not.
Hiring someone already on welfare should not result in the unwashed masses becoming deciding shareholders of your company. That would assuredly result in no employers giving any jobs to people on welfare, simply out of survival instinct.

No unemployment- no benefits. Why is that so hard? It’s supposed to a safety net, not a crutch.

Hey, I'm on the second part of this and I think I'm going to need more paper.Fife wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:35 pmTake a piece of paper and draw a vertical line down the middle.
