Maybe. I don't know. I am just saying.. calling that "capitalism" is quite a stretch. That's socialism for the wealthy and fuck you for you.

IOW, AAFES. Sounds like a marvelous plan.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:15 pmWhy is it unfair to ask whether the American people should have a say in who Amazon hires when we actually have to subsidize those jobs through welfare?

I don't know about how much AAFES pays their employees. Other than that, the only benefit they get is not having to levee sales taxes.Fife wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:20 pmIOW, AAFES. If American tax payers are going to pay for half or whatever of the paychecks of Amazon employees, then why shouldn't the American tax payers have some say in who gets those jobs, how many, and how much they are going to make?

Does Bezos have a means test for employment? Or does he require proof of food stamps?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:19 pmMaybe. I don't know. I am just saying.. calling that "capitalism" is quite a stretch. That's socialism for the wealthy and fuck you for you.

Putting Kamala Harris and Fauxcahontas in charge of the means of production sounds like a great plan.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:23 pmI don't know about how much AAFES pays their employees. I wonder how nobody ever thought of that before.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
The fact that welfare recipients can find employment that will not get them off of government assistance is hardly a black mark for employers. These people aren’t on welfare because Amazon gave them a job. They’re on welfare, period.
AND (in addition to them already being on welfare) - Amazon gave them a job.
So how does Amazon become the bad guy in this deal?

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
Bezos *can* pay his employees garbage wages because the American tax payers are providing welfare to the working poor. It wouldn't affect Amazon that much to raise wages pass the point where workers don't qualify for fucking assistance. That's Amazon's choice. The American people have no choice.Fife wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 1:24 pmDoes Bezos have a means test for employment? It's a fucked up relationship. Hardly capitalism.
Amazon doesn't even pay that much taxes. They work out deals with politicians to get discounted or exemptions from taxes. The little brick and mortar stores getting run out of business by Amazon don't have that luxury. The American people don't really have a say in it because the politicians who make these decisions make decisions based on who pays them, and Bezos is paying.
I wouldn't hold any of this shit up as some example of capitalism. It's fucking socialism for the wealthy, through and through.
Neocons and libertarians are just butthurt that the working poor have the nerve to ask for the same deal.

Ah, the ol’ “They have it, so we’re entitled to take it” defense.
Seattle City Council is a huge fan of that one.
“Well, Amazon CAN afford to give us an extra $450 million this year, so we’re entitled to it”
I should’ve known.

I am not defending shit here.
I am asking why taxpayers shouldn't have some voice in Amazon employment since they are partly fucking paying for said employment.

I mean.. if Jeff Bezos doesn't want taxpayers getting in his business, then maybe he shouldn't depend upon taxpayers to pay for his labor force instead of him??
