If that was the case, any genetic differences would have to be located in the loss of coding of a male's shortened Y chromosome because all the other chromosomes are the same. And that loss of material has been identified as the phenomenon that allows testosterone. Females have biological machinery in that missing area that turns OFF testosterone. Testosterone then initiates the cascade of changes that make females into males. (There are many testosterone derivatives doing this.)

I think you have the better argument. I was thinking more in terms of evolution of our species itself, developing genetic behaviors for both men and women. I did not really think about how that might actually be accomplished.

There are biological anomalies of both cases. Testosterone resistance where a genetic man can’t be told from a female even into maturity. It takes a doctor’s examination to determine the uterus is blind. Sometimes this doesn’t happen until after the individual is married and wants to find out why they are not getting pregnant.

Conversely, there are also genetic women with penises that are indistinguishable from men except they have 2 X-chromosomes.

I just dropped in and saw this thread, and the resentiment term and winner/loser mentality is discussed in Pankaj Mishra's Age of Anger. Probably the best book I've read in the last 2 years. This term goes well beyond individuals and societies, and has come to encompass the entire globe. The book discusses how this worldview came to be, and why it spread.

There is a great breakdown of Rousseau vs Voltaire. Eerily, the same battles these guys fought are being waged today.

How does it compare to "Slave Morality"? Interestingly, DB (and me, and others I assume), have recognized that people's motivations can only be explained at the basest level; there is little actual consideration. In fact, Scott Adams refers to the "science" of predeterminism, that your mind made a decision before there was time for rational thought. (He actually goes so far as to deny there is Free Will.)

Free will.

Try to hold your breath as long as you can. Eventually, no matter how hard you try, no matter how hard you exercise your free will, your body tells you no and makes you breathe again, before you pass out. That right there tells you we don't have unlimited free will in all cases. (Just try it, while you're sitting there, you'll see it's demonstrably true.)

But can we train our way around whatever that is that is stopping us from holding our breath, until we pass out? Can we apply our intellect and trick our bodies into allowing us to not breathe until we pass out? And then teach that to others? I'd posit that's free will.

Just a cog in the deterministic cosmic wheel. It was all decided for me long before I got here. I can’t even self terminate by holding my breath. That’s how powerless I am.

Tho ... David Carradine might have a hot tip on an alternative method that accomplishes the same goal.

You folks really don't know a whole lot about philosophical discourse. I put something forward, you should come back with something else, a refutation or a refinement. It's an exchange.

Instead I posit something and you come back with "you're stupid."

You need to learn how to do this better.

It's akin to playing basketball with a guy who instead of going for the hoop just throws the ball right at my head.
