Because the general trend of history is that everything gets worse, right?
Over the centuries, no. During the implosion of a corrupted superpower... yes.
Mad Hatters were a thing because of the Mercury used in felt hat production.
WR Grace knew Asbestos was killing it's workers for 40 years before they got busted.
How will Monsanto react. Will they also pull other products that are dangerous, or hide the affects like they have with Round Up for 30+ years. I've heard in the past their salesmen would drink it to show how harmless Round Up was to humans. It will be interesting to watch.
I grew up near "hat city", Danbury CT, used be famous for their hats and it was the "Danbury Shakes" due to mercury poisoning. Used to drive by the old hat factory on occasion, long shut down and abandoned by my time obviously. I think they finally did some cleanup on it, but it was a hazardous waste site for decades from all the mercury leached into the building and grounds.
GE dumped PCBs into the Hudson and Housatonic for a good 40-50 years before they got shut down from dumping it in the rivers. They still recommend you not eat fish from either (and they stopped the dumping in the 1970s IIRC, but PCBs last virtually forever).
Roundup has been leeching into rivers and groundwater for decades... wonder how long that shit lasts?
