What? Help? Now you sound like a God damned liberal. Electoral vote is supposed to elect a President not "Help." Fuck that shit. I once again have to ask, do you even know how a state gets assigned electoral votes? Because it doesn't seem as though you do.
I do, and I am pointing out a key issue called disfranchisement.
When a handful of core cities can stipulate the overall view of the state, there is an issue.
Your silly little idea disenfranchises a heck of a lot more. Illinois was won by 55%, that is a clear majority. Having a county of 1500 get the same vote as one of 5 million, a reality in Illinois, is the kind of shit that starts wars. I really dont think you know how the electoral process works.
Where did the majority of those votes come from? If you realize it that the majority of Illinois is ignored because politicians know full well that the outskirts of the city are ignored.
If you do it by county, the population would be more recognized.
This would be a mix of having an electoral vote and a truer indication of popular vote.
It’s obvious that if we did this projections would be a lot more accurate.

Pretty clear argument for doing away with the electoral college. Good one.
No bitch. I knew you would try this kind of dishonesty. You also have no idea how electoral votes are distributed. Be it guns, religion, the electoral college, or committed relationships with the opposite sex if dirty dick doesn't understand it he moves to eliminate it.

Word salad, you really dont know what you are talking about. Where is the math? How does this look in other elections? You havent answered these things or fleashed this thing out. Just say you want the Nebraska or Maine model and be done with it. It would be a lot less painful.

Stop immigration for a few decades and I am all for a popular vote for the presidency.
Democrats would be fucked if we went to a popular election right now.
I like that idea. Also like the notion that we make English the official language. And actually start fine business that routinely hire illegals. Shutdown undocumented workers. Put some teeth behind it. This I think would raise wages naturally for those jobs as well.

I'm ok with the state-wide electoral college, the county lines are all fucked anyway, the way it is now feels like a happy medium, and I'm cool with giving the states more power than surrendering the entire country to the will of a popular mob vote.

That's the point.

surrendering the entire country to the will of a popular mob vote.
Flounder wants LA and Chicago to determine the outcome going forward. Imagine that.

No you’re right. We should definitely keep giving extra voting power to rural hicks, because.... reasons.

I get the appeal of the popular vote, it feels cleaner and less corrupt than dealing with the over-represented caucuses/primaries (Iowa) and gerrymandering shit on the county level, but I'm willing to accept those flaws in order to keep the States in the United States relevant. I believe the United States are, not the United States is.

Democrats would lose a popular election right now.
