Re: The internet takeover thread
Dude, you are refusing to read what the other side has to say, and you do not actually understand how the Internet works, therefore being unable to truly understand the problem.
Only a few companies control the Internet backbone.
Maybe a dozen network providers control broadband to the majority of US citizens.
A few companies control domain registries, and as we saw with Gab, they are more than willing to deny people on their domains and even boot people off for wrongthink.
There are at least three levels here that you wholly do not understand.
There will be no competition to Facebook or YouTube unless these corps allow it. Process that fact.

I don't think Google, Apple, and Comcast mind others using their slogan:
The internet: So incomprehensible that only the government can control it!

Yeah, I'm watching that second one right now.
He reminds me of bjorn. Can't answer a simple question.

Re: The internet takeover thread
I think when you have to kathy newman the place up you have to know you can't compete on a rational basis here.
The Internet is controlled by only a handful of corporations, and if they want to shut you down, they can fucking damned well do it, and there's fuck all you can do about it now.
Suppose the corporation that controls one of the trunks in the Internet backbone, or a major network provider like Comcast say something like "we object to Breitbart and Fox News, so we are not going to allow any packet data from those sites across our network".
What in the fuck do you think you can do about that? Seriously? Don't say "competition" will fix it because it fucking can't when they control the network itself.

Re: The internet takeover thread
The whole fucking thing, as it exists in CONUS, is controlled by Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon.
You have some minor control from people like Level 3 and UUNET.
They have IXPs between their top-tier networks that connect it all together.
If three companies said FUCK YOU to anybody who operates on the Internet, there is nothing anybody could do about it. You can't just build competition to the entire fucking Internet.
Fuck sake.
You just saw social media companies do this on the interconnected social network that has developed. They are actually bigger. What makes you think those three companies that own the Internet backbone can't and won't do that with packet data?

Re: The internet takeover thread
I saw all of their competitors grow in size as they alienated customers.
You've got to be seriously blind to think that a company can survive while refusing to service half the country.

Do you comprehend that statement or not?

Re: The internet takeover thread
what restrictions would be placed on the government if net neutrality was adopted? what neutralities would be guaranteed? you make a strong case for the globalist internet monopoly being absolute, but what benefits should i take from surrendering that monopoly to the government? someone posted that internet regulation bill that was being circulated by the democrats, it didn't look like it had neutrality in mind
