Twitter has nuked loads of accounts in a new ‘purge’ and you could be the next person that’s silenced
‘Holy cow man I’m losing so many followers on Twitter, is this just me?’ wrote a musician called Garrett Williamson. ‘I’ve been at a steady decrease for whatever reason and all of a sudden 50 are gone today.’ ‘There is some kind of big Twitter purge going on right now,’ wrote documentary filmmaker Robbie Martin ‘I lost about 30 followers in the last 24 hours and no it’s not just because i’m an alienating d*******, it’s happening to a lot of other people as well.’

That can't be true. The airwaves are regulated.

Yep, what we really really need is the FCC for the internet.
That'll fix it!

"I began to sense faintly that secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, this you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives." -- R A Heinlein

AP LAUNCHES MEDIA HOAX CLAIMING ALEX JONES’ RADIO STATION SHUT DOWN
Alex Jones does not operate any radio stations; this is meant to create the illusion his broadcast is illegal
We do not have a radio station. This is a giant hoax. There are thousands of “pirate” radio stations across the country that we have nothing to do with, including the recently shut down station.
These stations run anywhere from a tenth of a watt up to a couple of watts with a range of about two miles.
The claim that “our station” – which is not our station at all – has been taken down for not having FCC authorization is falsely implying that our broadcast itself is somehow illegal.
Now we see where this is going: the FCC will send letters to stations that rebroadcast me, because we’re free-to-air, and imply that running my broadcast is illegal.

You answer first.
Get woke, go broke.

If the networks don't allow packet data to and from the competitor, what exactly are you going to do? The question presupposes a competitor. Competition means fuck all when a few corporations can just deprive it of access to data traffic.

Re: The internet takeover thread
There is no way to block a competitor from providing service to customers who want it other than to use the regulatory body of the government as a cudgel.
The only way a company can be truly blocked from catering to customers is if the regulatory body that you want to create actually gets created. Until then, we have options.
Your regulation of the internet is what is going to kill it.

Re: The internet takeover thread
Yes, there is.
You can block packet data from transmitting between the competitor and potential users.
Now answer the question: what exactly would you do when network providers do exactly that? You supported the greenlighting of that shit, so I am simply curious what your reaction will be when it happens.
Case in point:
In 2007, Comcast decided to block all torrent traffic on their network. They fraudulently injected packets to terminate torrent connections.
Comcast earlier that year had been caught throttling Netflix data to customers.
These two examples are why we got net neutrality. It can definitely happen. Don't pretend like it's impossible. Answer the question.
Before they did it for profit. But we have seen this year that they are even more willing to shut people down for political and ideological reasons. If you think this isn't coming you are fucking naive as fuck.

Re: The internet takeover thread
I don't think you read very well.
IF every provider chose to cut off service to information that customers wanted to access, a competitor would emerge to take advantage of the neglected customer base.
The exception to this would be if you got your way, and a government regulatory body was created that could block competitors from entering the market.
