At this point, it's safer to assume that every part of your car is uploading information on you. Tires are just one of many, many places to hide a bug.

But is that a violation of the 4A if you agree to it though the EULA? As long as it is inadmissible in court I don't think we have a violation here

No, it's not a violation of the 4th, until the government gets caught using it (which they are).

The point is that even though the user specifically opts out of being tracked, they're still tracked. That has to be a violation of the EULA, or contract law, or something. We need better privacy laws. Unfortunately, there's no lobbying group interested in making one.

I believe it's required by law now that every car have TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) sensors, that broadcast your tire pressure to the car (just replaced a tire, mine are 433mhz, though I've seen 415 & something in the 300s too). They are active transmitters, with a battery built in, probably easier to detect at a distance than an RFID tag.

Stay away from toll roads at least if you plan anything illegal, and don't bring a cell phone with you, or you are definitely leaving "fingerprints" to be tracked. And that's not counting traffic light cameras, etc.

They moved away from those. New systems monitor tire pressure through the suspension. Customers got tired of the ripoff that was the tire mounted pressure sensors that broke and needed to be replaced every time you got new tires.
