Yes they are. These companies all wanted net neutrality they knew what would happen. The congressional candidate is a former candidate, he lost the primary. Dont be like dirty dick.

That's really not accurate. SOME corporations were supportive of ONLY net neutrality when it came to packet data, and that was because they did not want other corporations to discriminate against the packet data coming to and from their servers for profit.

LOTS of corporations lobbied for abolishing net neutrality, and they are the very ones who have been doing things like stealing the domain name from Daily Stormer, purging entries from DNS servers, colluding to lock people out of DDOS prevention services, etc.

It is precisely because we do not have net neutrality that we cannot really establish any viable alternatives to Facebook and YouTube. If GAB ever really gets a large userbase, you better believe they are getting throttled and possibly even their domain stolen from them by the very same people that bribed their way out of net neutrality regs. As it is GAB cannot even put an app on either app store. They already had to remove a user early on from threats of having their domain stolen as happened to Daily Stormer.

I simply think that a further regulation ought to come into place when a social network becomes by virtue of network externality a monopoly and that corporation uses those monopolistic powers -- no differently than any other monopoly, really. Facebook and Youtube in particular have proven they are just such monopolies and they have no fear whatsoever in using those monopolistic powers towards financial and political fuckery.

Dude, asking for net neutrality is NOT asking for a "department of the Internet".

We didn't have a department of the Internet before and it worked just fine. Nothing was falling apart.

As far as an additional measure to deal with social media monopolies discriminating against people on their monopolistic networks, that can be dealt with in courts just like every other monopoly. We don't need a new bureaucracy to deal with these issues.

Reimplement net neutrality so that packet data cannot be discriminated against. Take these large corporations to court in anti-trust cases to reign in these abuses in social media. That's all I am asking for.

At least be honest and consider what I actually said.

Many of the banned pages look like parodies of some paranoid bureaucrat’s idea of dangerous speech.

A page called “Black Elevation” shows a picture of Huey Newton and offers readers a job. “Aztlan Warriors” contains a meme celebrating the likes of Geronimo and Zapata, giving thanks for their service in the “the 500 year war against colonialism.”

And a banned “Mindful Being” page shared this, which seems culled from Jack Handey’s Deep Thoughts bit:

“We must unlearn what we have learned because a conditioned mind cannot comprehend the infinite.”

Facebook also wiped out a “No Unite The Right 2” page, appearing to advertise a counter-rally on the upcoming anniversary of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Facebook was “helped” in its efforts to wipe out these dangerous memes by the Atlantic Council, on whose board you’ll find confidence-inspiring names like Henry Kissinger, former CIA chief Michael Hayden, former acting CIA head Michael Morell and former Bush-era Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff. (The latter is the guy who used to bring you the insane color-coded terror threat level system.)
