Most people actually worship something other than God. Ask yourself what is most important to you. That's what you worship. If it's not God, then you are an idolater.

That doesn't mean protecting your nation is not important, but placing race as the core of your identity is a bad idea.

It literally means to place anything before God. It is a violation of the first commandment. We call it idolotry because the Hebrews used to revert to worshipping idols all the time. It does not have to be a physical idol, however, and even in that context the idol was a physical representation on something else (wealth, pleasure, power).

When we speak of libertarians worshipping Mammon, we are speaking of the golden calf idol that they worshipped in the desert and for which God punished them. Mammon is associated with a God of wealth. If wealth is the most important thing in your life, then you are an idoloter not unlike a golden calf worshipper in the bronze age. You just have a different take on it.

Could you quote “the scripture” that you’re referring to? The one that says to carry around little Jesus Charms to ward off evil?

What you’re talking about was a prophecy made that the world would end in 1914. And in many ways, it did.
Nobody claims that Jesus came back at that time.
