Disclaimer: Yes, the US has plenty of it's own problems. We are not Saints nor Angels.

The United States is a Global Monster.
- Best Military, most advanced Military Technology (but I we don't have the toughest soldiers man for man anymore)
- Economic Production: We produce as much as the remainder of the the G7 Countries combined
- Civil Liberties: As much of a beating as they've taken in the last 20 years, we still have more Civil Liberties than any major nation
- Medical: Even after Obamacare, we are the world leaders in medical care, technology and access
- Resources: There's not a country on the planet that has more resources than the US


Now, people may be able to argue a point or two of the above. But overall, the US is the place to be. Why are so many other countries trying to follow Democrat Socialism and other crazy models when the US model is sitting there and has led to such a prosperous free society.

There you go, your lying media distorted a story about a brain dead vegetable who had NO chance of recovery or ANY quality of life in order to push a pro life agenda.
And yes it is a far better system which treats patients no matter the state of their bank balance, and results in a greater life expectancy for half of the cost.
No one is bankrupted or refused treatment because they can't afford insurance or is refused insurance cover due to a pre-existing condition.

I say how fairly is that wealth distributed?
How come with all that wealth you have such a poorly financed infrastructure. You have crumbling dams, bridges unsafe to use, a third world public transport system.
Where does all that wealth go?
Why do you have 11 massive aircraft carriers, the three biggest military airforces in the world and yet cities like Detroit which have been abandoned by the government, an appalling state school system which cannot even guarantee the safety of its pupils never mind educate them to a reasonable standard?

I guess the easy answer to the OP is that only the US is the US. Every country tries their best with what they have. I don't think Sweden could copy the US if even if we tried. I also think you might have a distorted picture about just how much socialism a country like mine has. Hint: there's very little left. We have high taxes but that is not the same thing.

Do you think we haven't looked at you for inspiration on what to do and what to avoid? Every other country is a smörgåsbord of ideas. You adopt some and reject others. Of course, there is a lot of different opinions about which is which if you ask our politicians. It's an organic process. No one would propose just blindly copying everything from the US. That is utter folly.

For example, I think we have a lot less regulation and therefore a lot more choices in many sectors than the US has. You have so many de facto monopolies that you have to suffer under. I would not want to copy those. I also prefer our stricter abortion rights. We don't need as much military force either. What would we use it for?

I would not mind having the worlds reserve currency but alas that hope is in vain. We have laws against unbalanced budget now for example. We almost always run a surplus.
