Re: Socialism
Say you start talking to a feminist about social policies and family law, and she opens up the discussion with the assertion that any time a man has sex with a woman, it's technically rape.
What is your next step in coming to a compromise with her on legal policies involving sex, rape, and laws differentiating those things, as well as policies about how to deal with rape allegations?
You would not. That's the problem. It's so fucking asinine, and the person expressing that opinion is so far gone, that it's pointless to even have the discussion. The only thing you can do at that point is attack the asinine assertion that any time a man has sex with a woman he rapes her. The rest of the discussion is moot until she pulls her head out of her ass and accepts reality.
So here we are. Fife claims all taxation is theft. Well, we cannot have a fruitful conversation about this shit with people like him until they realize how absolutely, stunningly stupid it is to claim all taxation is theft.

So... Sanders and Cortezio are not real socialists?Okeefenokee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 10:59 amIf you were paying attention, I was never once talking about taxation.
Socialism isn't just capitalism with higher taxes.

Taxes are legalized extortion....legal because the Government (note the capital 'G') has the consent of the governed.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 10:59 am

If you ever paid attention to anything, you'd know that both of them have admitted that their goal is to transition to socialism after they've got their foot in the door.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 11:10 amSo... Socialism isn't just capitalism with higher taxes.
They start with the lie that they just want more taxes and more welfare.

Cortezio has alluded to more in fact: "...Flip this seat red." you tell me how else that's supposed to be interpreted.Okeefenokee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 11:14 amIf you ever paid attention to anything, you'd know that both of them have admitted that their goal is to transition to socialism after they've got their foot in the door.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 11:10 amSo... Re: Socialism
Every time I've had sex, the involved acts were consensual and voluntary for all involved.
100% of the time.
Every time I've paid a tax, the involved acts were compulsory and involuntary, as to me.
100% of the time.

In an effort to get away from fallacies and to have an honest discussion, consider this as a first question:
If a single man brandishing a gun comes over to your house and takes your car against your will, has there been a theft?
If anyone says "no theft," what part of the definition of theft (as you understand it) hasn't been met?
100% of the time.

Re: Socialism
We've know that "IT'S LEGAL" is a lazy and disingenuous fallacy since back early on in the DCF days.
The concept of a Social Contract is Marxist hogwash. As to "consent of the governed," can we agree that "consent" is a pretty important part of that phrase?
What contract did Dred Scott join into regarding his servitude?

Re: Socialism
If it is involuntary, as in income tax, it is stealing. Consumption taxes leave a choice and therefore consentSpeaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:28 amNo, Kathy Newman, that is not what I said.California wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 8:25 amSo if there's no law against theft stealing is therefore ok?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 7:45 amFor one thing, theft implies breaking the law, genius.
A tax may or may not be morally good, but in order for me to accept that it is stealing it either has to be unconstitutional or grossly violate of natural law. Collecting taxes to pay for our roads is not inherently immoral, and sure as shit is not "stealing". Get a grip.
