But our farms would be in the shithole nations we keep fighting in.

I'd certainly be an absentee plantation owner if they tried to hook me up with a place on the Tigris.

Corporate gibs.
This. Just a bit more subsidies for a bloated, monstrous industry.

Imagine that Roman soldier after thirty years getting the deed to his farm and asking his mates if Numidia is near home.

Damn, we had that policy and we ended it...………… just learned something

Military Tract of 1812
Tracts of land were given outright by the states, and later by the federal government as partial compensation (or "bounty") for service in times of military conflict. ………….. Bounty land warrants were issued from the colonial period until 1858, when the program was discontinued, and five years later, in 1863, the rights to locate and take possession of bounty lands ceased...……………………….. Soldiers of the War of 1812, who received 160 acres.

We need to get this going again.

That's how my family established early roots in Florida. Great grandpa fought the Seminoles in the Seminole Wars. I have a photocopy of his muster card somewhere.
